St John Southworth is a Roman Catholic Primary School in the parish of St John Southworth provided by the Diocese of Salford and is maintained by the Local Authority as a Voluntary Aided Primary School.  The school’s Governing Body is the Admissions Authority and is responsible for taking decisions on applications for admission.  For the school year commencing September 2025, the governing body has set its planned admissions number at 30.

Applications for a place in Reception at September 2026 should be made on the Application Form issued by Lancashire County Council and returned to the school by the date specified by Lancashire County Council.  Parents who wish to seek priority for baptized Catholic children should also complete the school’s Supplementary Information Form (SIF) and return it at the same time.

As required by law, all children with a Statement of Special Educational Needs naming the school will be admitted before the application of the oversubscription criteria.

Where more applications are received than the planned admissions number for the school, the over subscription criteria will be applied as stated in the policy below.
