We are a Roman Catholic Voluntary Aided Primary School who embraces not only children of our own faith but those of other faiths too. Prayer, Worship and Religious Education are daily events in our school and shape our ethos. We have a close relationship with our Parish Priest, Fr Brian Murphy, and our Parish Pastoral Assistant, Anne Burdell, who are regular visitors in school. Our school is in a town with a rich cultural and multifaith heritage and we are proud to reflect this. Our school has been awarded Model School Status for our work with phonics and reading within our Foundation and Key Stage 1 Departments. We welcome other schools to come and see how we teach synthetic phonics using the Read Write Inc. Programme.
We have gained our Silver Eco-Schools Award for our continuing commitment to sustainability. We have extensive grounds that we try to use to the best effect. We recycle mobile phones, ink cartridges, paper, glass, plastic, and batteries to name but a few! We have even grown our own vegetables that have been used in the school kitchen. Our eco-council is active in organising 'Green Events', our next one being in the summer term...
We are commited to being a healthy school. A major part of our mission statement refers to the physical and emotional education of our children. We encourage healthy lifestyles and endeavour to teach our children how to be confident, happy, healthy children.
